Pure Elements Ingredients
Pure Elements is built on a simple idea: a shampoo can be gentle and still perform. Every formula in the range is made with over 95% naturally derived ingredients, free from SLS and SLES sulphates and parabens, and blended with 100% pure essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance. This page lists what goes into the range and what each ingredient does for your hair.
The products are made in Belgium by Codibel in an eco-responsible facility, bottled in 100% recycled plastic, certified organic and registered vegan, with no animal derivatives and no animal testing.

A note on essential oils. Our products contain small quantities — less than 0.5% — of pure essential oils, carefully balanced for the sensory experience. Essential oils have many beneficial properties, but if you are pregnant or breastfeeding you may prefer to avoid some of them; if in doubt, speak with your doctor. Essential oils are not recommended for children under 3 years of age.
Common questions
Is Pure Elements sulphate and paraben free?
Yes. Every formula is free from SLS and SLES sulphates and from parabens, and is made with over 95% naturally derived ingredients. The cleansing agents used instead are gentler than conventional sulphates, so hair is cleaned thoroughly without being stripped.
Is Pure Elements vegan and cruelty free?
Yes. The range is registered vegan with no animal derivatives, and neither the finished products nor their ingredients are tested on animals. The proteins used are plant and silk derived rather than animal keratin sources.
Are the essential oils real essential oils?
Yes — 100% pure essential oils, not synthetic fragrance. That is why each product has a distinct natural scent: tea tree and spearmint in the clarifying shampoo, sweet orange and spearmint in the volumising shampoo, cedarwood in the moulding clay.
What does “over 95% naturally derived” actually mean?
It means more than 95% of each formula by weight comes from plant, mineral or water sources, or from ingredients derived from them through processes recognised as natural. The remaining fraction covers things like preservatives, which keep the product safe to use over its shelf life.
Is the packaging recyclable?
The bottles and tins are made from 100% recycled plastic and can be recycled again through kerbside collection in most Australian councils. Rinse the bottle and replace the cap before putting it in the bin.
Where is Pure Elements made?
In Belgium, by Codibel, in an eco-responsible facility that is transitioning to renewable energy. Emissions are measured against a 2021 baseline of 93 tonnes CO₂e under a science-based reduction plan.
Which Pure Elements shampoo suits my hair?
Orangemint Volumising is for fine or flat hair that needs lift. Sandalwood Moisturising suits dry or dehydrated hair. Tea Tree and Spearmint Clarifying is for oily hair or product build-up. Patchouli Softening works on coarse or unruly hair. Marigold Harmonising is a balancing everyday option. Pair any of them with the Jojoba Conditioning Crème.
